near the light source for an extended time. For halogen lights to shine brightly, they generate an
enormous amount of heat, which can be uncomfortable for the surgical team, who are most
likely working directly under the lights. It leads to fatigue during extended surgical procedures,
increasing the risk of error and poor judgment.
LED lights produce a whiter and cooler light than halogen lights because bright lights improve
visibility, and the temperature helps ensure the surgical team stays comfortable. LED lighting
allows the surgical team to see more accurate skin pigmentation and better overall color when
examining patients by working with exceptionally natural colors, shadow control, and cavity
illumination. Unlike halogen lights, it needs to be filtered to produce a cooler white light when
rendering colors for the desired results that provide the best viewing conditions.
LED lights are energy efficient compared to halogen lights which use much less energy to
generate light and reduce overall energy costs, using about 70% less energy than traditional
light sources. LED lights also offer a much longer lifespan than halogen lights which can last up
to 30 times longer. It suggests that LEDs can last up to 50,000 hours without needing to be
replaced.
Overall, LED lights offer a more efficient solution for medical procedures by providing bright,
clear illumination while minimizing heat output and reducing downtime for light replacement.
